How a calm downsize runs

The difference is the fortnight before the truck. We plan the move in stages: what goes to the new place, what goes to family, what goes to charity or sale, and what needs a decision that should not be rushed. The truck is booked for the end of that process, not the middle of it.

On the day, the crew works room by room in the order agreed, and the pieces with a story, the piano, the sideboard, the boxes of photographs, are handled the way our specialty work is always handled. Nothing is hurried through a doorway because the afternoon is getting on.

For the family helping out

Downsizing moves are often arranged by a son or daughter with a full diary and a parent with a full house. We are comfortable working with both of you: the planning calls can go to one number and the on-the-day patience to the other. Everything agreed lands in writing, so everyone reads the same plan.

Where things go when they go three ways

A downsize rarely has one destination. A typical plan splits the load: the apartment or village unit gets the keepers, a family home across Sydney gets the heirlooms, and the rest is staged for charity collection or sale. One truck, one day, several drops, sequenced so the important deliveries happen while everyone is fresh.

One thing we do not do is store your things ourselves; we are movers, not a storage facility. If storage is part of your plan, we will happily deliver into the facility you choose and stack it properly there.

Most downsizes out of a 3 bedroom house run with 3 movers and 1 truck at $350 an hour. If the destination is a village or apartment building we check the lift and loading rules before the day, the same way we do for any building move. The three rates, in full, are on the rates page.
